Upcoming Exam
Hi all you 700.1 people. Daniela, Katherine and I were talking about getting some study group thing going, to prepare for the Comprehensive Exam on Nov. 11. If you are interested leave a comment here. There was some talk of Sunday evenings, but maybe we should see who's interested....

  • I would be up for something like this, but Sunday evenings would be tough for me, as I live in Queens and it would be a late school night...geez, that makes me sound old :) If meeting is too difficult, we can always try to study using this page. One of us can come up with a question, and we would all have a week to write an essay. We would then e-mail them to everyone, and we would all comment on them. Does this sound like it might work? If not, no worries...just figured I'd throw it out.

    Hope everything is going well for everyone. For those teaching, I hope the kids are taking it easy on you.

  • I think emailing essays around and writing to the blog might be information overkill. In my experience, it's best to use one or the other, and the blog would allow this to happen in a centrally organized place.

    When my friends and I studied for the comps, we would meet at someone's apartment and read our essays to each other, offering verbal comments. It saves time, and there's a lot more that gets communciated and reinforced in person. Plus, it's fun.

    But if physical meetings are too difficult to arrange, certainly the blog is the way to go, in my opinion.

  • Hi Matt and Jeff! From a logistical standpoint I'm liking your idea Matt, because we were already having problems picking a good day when there were only three of us. Sunday isn't really going to work for me either.Time's getting short though...
